This fall, Cal Baptist is finally able to compete for a spot in the 31-team NCAA fields. If the Lancers finish in the top two at the West Regional on Nov. 11, they will automatically qualify for the NCAA meet on Nov. 19. They could also get one of the 13 at-large berths.

Shortly after the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 23, Cal Baptist cross country coach Adam Tribble checked his email.

One of the first messages was from school President Ronald Ellis, who congratulated Tribble on the team's performances. The  Lancers' men's and women's teams each placed second in their races at the prestigious meet in Minnesota, helping them rise in the national coaches polls.

The Cal Baptist women are tied for 19th in the rankings, while the men are 29th.
