A year ago, Notre Dame's women's track and cross country teams landed one of the nation's top recruiting classes.

Charlotte Bednar and Caroline Lehman were among the high school stars to sign with the Fighting Irish.

This year, though, the women's team is off to another strong start on the recruiting front as distance stars Gretchen Farley and Reagan Riley this month each announced their commitments to the Fighting Irish.

Farley is a senior at Park Tudor High School in Indianapolis, where she is teammates with Sophia Kennedy, who has committed to Stanford. Kennedy is the daughter of Bob Kennedy, a 1996 Olympian and former U.S. record-holder in the 3,000m, two mile and 5,000m.

Farley has strong family bloodlines, as well, and is following a family tradition of running for an elite college. Her oldest sister, Hannah, was a three-time state champion in the 400m and ran at...
