Ryan Vanhoy took over the Cal Poly men's and women's cross country and track and field programs in June. Few NCAA coaches are ever afforded opportunities where they can dramatically change the course of an entire program during their initial hires. 

In 2022, the bar is simply that high at many power conference programs. 

But Cal Poly's newest Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, Ryan Vanhoy, may be one such candidate to achieve that feat. 

In June, the acclaimed middle- and long-distance coach from Ole Miss announced he was leaving the the Rebels to join Cal Poly, ushering in a truly "Wait, what?" moment across the collegiate track and field space.
