Performance: Wilmes may have a Missouri Class 3 800m state title to her name, but Wilmes had never gone under 2:10 for the 800m prior to last weekend.
At the HOKA Festival of Miles, she finally broke that barrier.
In a fast field, Wilmes recorded even 1:04 splits for the first and final laps en route to a 2:08.99 mark and a third place finish. She only ranks behind Ventura phenom Sadie Engelhardt among freshmen nationally in the event this season, and certainly solidifies her place among the best upcoming high school girls middle distance runners.
