At the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic, Reilly lined up in the 1K against a field of collegiate athletes.
The sophomore finished fifth out of 41 runners among an elite field. This push helped him to shave three seconds off his previous best as Reilly crossed the finish line and shattered the sophomore class record by three seconds with a 2:24.18.
He took down a 12-year-old record, which was held by Liverpool's (NY) Zavon Watkins. The New York native last ran a 2:27.59 at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational.
