The Top Seven Storylines At The Eastbay XC Championships

Midwest Boys Go For Four Straight Titles

You have to go all the way back to 2016 to find the last time a boy from the Midwest region didn't take the top spot at nationals.

It's been a Midwest party at the last three runnings of the national meet with Dylan Jacobs (IL), Cole Hocker (IN) and Josh Methner (IL) going 1-2-3 since 2017. Reed Brown of Texas, representing the South region, won it in 2016.

The Midwest has a good shot to make it four-in-a-row on Saturday. There are a host of Midwesterners that should be right up there. Regional champion Riley Hough (MI) is running well at the right time. He is one of five boys that dipped under 15 minutes at Eastbay Midwest in Wisconsin a few weeks ago.

Izaiah Steury (IN), Zane Bergen (CO), Nick Falk (IL) and Hunter Jones (MI) make up that list of sub-15 runners that could help keep the streak alive for the Midwest region.

It won't be easy with the likes of Gavin Sherry and Marco Langon coming in hot from the Northeast, but this is going to be a close one.
