While the first three Eastbay CC Regionals are taking place across the weekend -- Northeast, South and Midwest -- the West qualifier will hold off until the California State Cross Country Championships are concluded on Nov. 27 in Fresno, California.
A week later, on Dec. 4, the Eastbay West Region race will take place on the Mt. SAC course with 10 spots on the line for nationals.
Which athletes are set up for their qualifying moment?
Right now, Desert Vista (AZ) veteran Lauren Ping and Crater (OR) breakout star Tyrone Gorze lead all runners in the West Region. Beyond those two, however, are the next 499 best athletes in both the girls' and boys' fields.
