When it comes to recruiting, certain programs will value certain events differently. But few can argue that sprint athletes offer multi-tier value.
This isn't a hot take.
When it comes to scoring value in the NCAA, sprints reign supreme for programs that value indoor and outdoor track and field scoring over cross country.
Keep in mind the fiscal opportunity for those involved, too: All three sports represent a specific line item on the budget sheet, but scholarships remain the same -- as in, the allocations are combined -- for all three. Sprints, therefore, offer value beyond just a single event.
Which brings us to the Class of 2022.
This group of young men could be electric in a year's time.
