The steeplechase is a very unique event, in that it's one that is rarely run at the association level in high school.
Furthermore, the steeplechase is a discipline that is only run during the spring track season.
However, talent does shine often.
When national championship season or elite invitationals roll around, athletes in the U18 category can often find opportunities competing in the event.

Few programs in the NCAA have dominated a singular event like the BYU men have dominated the steeplechase.
