Two of the nation's best hurdles battled it out on Saturday in the 100m hurdles at the Dunbar Tigers Classic.
St. Thomas Aquinas High School's (FL) Eddiyah Frye and Dunbar High School's Lucheyona Weaver (FL) are no strangers to racing against each other. In fact, this year alone the duo have matched up on three different occasions.
In this battle, it was Frye who came out ahead running a new wind-legal US No. 1 time of 13.52 seconds (+0.1). The University of North Carolina signee was trailing even over the final hurdle. It wasn't until the lean at the line that she was able to edge out Weaver.
Weaver, who was competing on her home track, led the race from the second hurdle but would ultimately come in second. In the process, she clocked the new US No. 2 wind-legal time of 13.57 (+0.1).
Rounding out the top three was Frye's teammate from St. Thomas Aquinas High School Alexis Glasco. The senior ran 14.33 (+0.1).
