It's been a weird year for track and field recruits.
When COVID-19 put the sports world on pause in March, it also set in motion an issue that hasn't quite been figured out at the collegiate level. Where are all the incoming collegiate athletes going to go if scholarships aren't available?
With the NCAA granting extra eligibility for outgoing seniors and holding allocated scholarships up, it's impacted recruits looking to fill in those spots.
On top of that, the NCAA continued to push back the dead period, meaning A. No official on-campus visits; and B. No in-home meet-ups with coaches, either.
So how is an athlete to decide his or her fate in the new world of NCAA recruiting?
Somehow, life has gone on, albeit a bit differently. We caught up with one of the country's top recruits, Darius Kipyego, to figure out just how he decided on his next path.
