A mark of resilience came to define the past year for high school athletes, coaches and teams alike. Indeed, no year resembeled 2020 in history, with so much coming to define the year. 

At the center of everyone's world was COVID-19, the pandemic that forced track and field to take a backseat for a handful of uncertain months. 

But a large majority of MileSplit's most read stories dealt with the ongoing ramifications of those facts, with an audience that was engaged and curious into what exactly was coming next.

By mid-year, however, the promise of youth once again showed its hand, with the kind of excellence few could have predicted. History was made in the mile yet again from an Arizona teen. Few stories topped the efforts of Leo Daschbach in 2020.
