Monday, August 24th.

I pulled out my phone, opened up Twitter and saw that Makayla Paige, a standout 800 meter runner with a personal best of 2:06, had committed to run for the University of North Carolina the night prior.

"Wow, nice pickup for the Tar Heels" I thought to myself.

I made a mental note and proceeded to go about my day. 

However, just a few hours later, it became clear that Paige was only a precursor for what would end up being one of the greatest recruiting hauls (maybe ever) within a 24-hour period.

In fact, it would only be the beginning of what would turn into an epic battle between programs landing recruits throughout the ACC, with teams like Virginia, NC State and Notre Dame all claiming standout athletes with NCAA scoring potential.
