If you're a fan of track and field, specifically at the collegiate level, the past 14 days have likely not been good for you.
A week ago, William & Mary College's athletic adminstration announced that it would be cutting its men's indoor and outdoor track teams (along with five other varsity sports) following the completion of the 2020-21 academic calendar.
Exactly seven days later, on Thursday, the University of Minnesota announced that it would also be cutting its men's indoor and outdoor track programs following the completion of the 2020-21 academic calendar.
Both universities cited the ongoing pandemic, compliance with Title IX and financial strain as reasons behind their decisions to cut these sports.
