In just her first year throwing the javelin, Weston High School's (CT) Kate Joyce was one of the top athletes in the nation. She showed constant improvement from her first meet on April 27th 2019 all the way through to her wins at CIAC State Open Outdoor Championships, New England Championships, and beyond. She capped off her junior season at New Balance Nationals with a third-place finish in the javelin throwing 149 feet 7 inches.
