One sophomore who really made waves during the indoor season was Thomas Worthington High School's (OH) Justin Braun. Braun was the third-ranked sophomore in the 60m dash, second-ranked sophomore in the 200m and the top sophomore in the 400m. His 46.77 led the nation for all grades as he was the only athlete to break 47 seconds in the event this year. 

Piper High School's (FL) Aaliyah Butler was one of the top sophomore girls in the nation. Butler held the nation-leading time for all grades in the 400m with her 53.03. She was also ranked second in the sophomore class in the 200m and 36th in the 60m dash.
