2. The BYU Autumn Classic
- - -
Description: This is a blue-chip race that will bring some of the best squads in the NXR Southwest region together on the same soil. On the boys side, American Fork (UT), No. 8 Corner Canyon (UT), No. 24 Lone Peak (UT) and No. 21 Davis (UT) will have a hot contest, while the girls race will feature No. 16 Lone Peak (UT), Californias' top 10 ranked program Saugus and Idaho's Mountain View, led by Lexy Halladay. American Fork's boys likely have the most to gain coming off a very good performance at the Pre Region 4 Meet, when the squad averaged 16:07 for 5K. After graduating a great deal of seniors from last year's team that won a Class 6A title, Coach Timo once again has the boys running flawlessly. But Corner Canyon is ranked nationally, and the team from Utah still shouldn't be counted out -- even though its without its top athlete, Easton Allred, and was without its No. 2 runner, Mark Boyle, in its last meet. Corner Canyon likely has the most to lose with a poor performance here.
On the girls side, Lone Peak will be without two of its varsity five, though it should still be in the hunt to compete with one of California's best teams.
