Girls 800m

Entries: 35

2018 Winner: Athing Mu, Trenton, New Jersey, 2:06.59

Armory RecordSamantha Watson, Henrietta, New York, 2:01.78

National RecordSabrina Southerland, Queens, New York, 2:03.59

Threats To Win: Athing Mu (NJ), Roisin Willis (WI), Lily Flynn (NY)

Analysis: After setting the new American Record time of 1:23.57 in the 600m earlier this season at the USATF Indoor Track & Field Championships, Mu became the clear favorite in this race.  Her time in the 800m of 2:03.98 ranks US No. 1. If Athing were to have an off day, the next closest athlete to be able to claim the title would be Wisconsin's Roisin Willis. Willis, who is just a freshman, threw down the third fastest time of the year at the MileSplit / SPIRE Scholastic Showcase. She could be a dark horse as she's only raced the 800m twice this year and dropped three seconds from 2:09.57 to 2:06.91.
