Why: This one was set by Owensboro (KY) High's Casey Combest back in 1999. And Combest is on the 60m top 10 all-time list twice: once with the national record time of 6.57 and again with the fourth fastest all-time performance. He's also the 10th-fastest performer in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.20.
Much like the 55m dash record, we had the best chance of seeing this one broken last year by Anthony Schwartz. Schwartz ran 6.59 for U.S. No. 2 all-time, but it's unlikely this year we will see anyone get that close to this record.
