Why: The top high school mark is currently 6.31, held by Rolesville (NC) High School freshman Michael Gupton. Gupton ran that mark to win the NCHSAA 4A Indoor State Championship Meet on Feb. 9. The best chance we had at seeing this record broken was last year with 2018 American Heritage (FL) graduate Anthony Schwartz. Last year, Schwartz ran the U.S. No. 2 all-time mark of 6.13 at New Balance Nationals Indoor.
