2. Ridgefield's Trey Knight Goes US No. 8 All-Time In The Weight Throw At The Simplot Games
- - -
The legend of Trey Knight continues after his hurl on Saturday in Pocatello, Idaho.
The junior entered into the top 10 ranks in the weight throw (with the 25-pound implement) with a mark of 86 feet, 7.5 inches, a PR by over 4-feet.
That's a new Simplot Games record.
While the mark stands about an inch shy of the junior class record of 87-10.75 -- owned by Conor McCullough, who before Knight owned almost every top 10 mark on the all-time -- there stands good reason that Knight, who also owns freshman and sophomore class records, could get there by season's end.
Notable Action:
- Micah Williams ties junior class record in the 60m with his US No. 2 6.64 in the 60m finals -- even more impressive, he was ahead of his competition by 2-hundredths of a second
- Borah's Nathan Green dropped a 4:18.74 mile
- Luke Grundvig produces a win in the 3200m over Kashon Harrison, going 9:07.76 to Harrison's 9:13.74 -- both got qualifiers to NBNI
- Nor Cal's Chinyere Okoro went US No. 9 in the 60m in 7.48 seconds
- Jazlynn Shearer went US No. 6 in the 60mH in 8.42
- Fairview's Marlena Preigh went US No. 2 in the 800m in 2:06.80
- Woods Cross' Carlee Hansen posted a 4:51.85 1600m
