3. The Great Southwest Classic Played Host To Some Of The Best Talent In The Country
The Great Southwest Classic lived up to its billing, producing 518 elite performances and national-caliber races.
Along with Burns, the meet also saw a high jump meet record go down by the nation's best: Yukon (OK) High's Vernon Turner.
Texas' Gabe Oladipo also recorded the fifth best effort in Great Southwest history in the discus, throwing a mark of 206-3.5. Miami Norland (Fl.) High's Tyrese Cooper broke the meet record in the 400m, going 45.38 seconds.
And Centennial (NV) High's Karina Haymore scored a national-level performance in the 800m with a time of 2:08.17.
