2. 25 boys break the 9-minute wall in the 3200m at Arcadia Invitational
Let that soak in for a second. TWENTY FIVE runners went sub-9 minutes in the 3200m this weekend.
That included a top three of Cooper Teare, Austin Hindman and Casey Clinger.
Just take a look at our national rankings on MileSplit. Guess where the top 25 earned their top time?
All at Arcadia. And that's absurd.
But how about Hindman, too? Missouri webmaster Ryan Banter described him as "the worst kept secret in sports" -- which is hyperbole, but I think he meant distance running.
Who's arguing now?
Most know Teare, a senior at St. Joseph Notre Dame (Ca.) High and Oregon signee, as the guy who went 14:13.26 in a breakout outdoor 5K at the Texas Distance Festival on March 18 - and also as a two-time California state champion in cross country and top 20 finisher at NXN this past season.
And Clinger? He's just the Gatorade National Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year, two-time NXN winner, and multiple state champion in track and field and cross country in Utah.
But Hindman? The senior from Wildwood Lafayette (MO) and University of Missouri recruit, didn't break 9 minutes once last year. He wasn't on the national scene in cross country this past fall.
Talk about a big-time performance. That finish put Hindman on the map.
