Mondo Duplantis Clears #5 Pole Vault In The World
Armand "Mondo" Duplantis is in the best shape of his life. In five weeks, he's improved the national high school record in the pole vault from 18-5 to 18-9.25 to 18-10.25. The most recent record was set at the New York Armory during the NYRR Millrose Games; there was not a men's pro pole vault contested, but the mark would have contended for top honors had there been one.
Duplantis' mark is also a world age group record for 17-year-olds and ranks No. 4 in the world this year amongst senior competitors. The Lafayette High, La. junior will compete at the IAAF World Championships in London this summer for Sweden, his mother's native country.
