Five of best relay programs in the country--the Manvel, Fort Bend Marshall, and Kingwood boys, and the Cypress Springs, Fort Bend Hightower and Aldine Davis girls--are descending on Houston this weekend for some extremely spicy baton passing.

6:00 PM Saturday: Boys 4x100m, followed by girls
The Manvel boys finished 2015 ranked US #5, just ahead of Fort Bend Marshall's US #8. This year, Marshall is ranked fourth in the country, but Manvel is only #20 in 2016. Can the Mavericks recapture the 2015 relay form that helped them win a state title?

On the girls side, Cypress Springs and Aldine Davis finished 2015 as US #6 and 7, respectively. Cy-Springs has the fourth fastest time in the country this year--three-quarters of a second ahead of US #14 Davis. With relatively warm weather forecast for Saturday night, look for hot times on the track.

8:40 PM Saturday: Boys 4x400m, followed by girls

It's more of the same from the 4x1, plus a few new players. Manvel finished last year with the US #5 boys 4x4, and they're sitting at US #4 right now. Their biggest rivals will be Kingwood (US #4 last year) and Fort Bend Marshall (US #8 this year.)

Cypress Springs could sweep the girls sprint relays, but they'll face a stiff challenge here from Fort Bend Hightower, whose 3:48.78 mark from two weeks ago trails Cy-Springs's season best by 1.12 seconds.  Cy-Springs and FB Hightower currently US #5 and 6, respectively.
