What to Watch This Weekend

North Shore High School Pre-National Invitational (NY)

The North Shore Invitational gets things going on Friday evening at the New York Armory.

  • Sydney McLaughlin (pictured) makes her debut in the open 400m. The junior from Union Catholic, N.J. ran the nation's fastest time last indoor season (53.72 indoor/52.59 outdoor PR), though she is a world champion in her specialty: the 400-meter hurdles. She's also entered in the 200m; she has not raced the open 200m too many times but owns an outdoor PR of 24.08 and won the New Jersey Group Championships last spring.
  • McLaughlin's Villanova-bound teammate Amari Onque-Shabazz is entered in the 400m (56.14 PR) and 800m (2:10.03 PR).
  • Shenendehowa girls headline the 4x800m relay; they rank US #3 with a season-best of 9:10.
  • US #4 ranked shot putter Jordan West of Rahway (NJ) enters with a best of 63-8; he is more than 12 feet ahead of the field
