Girls 200m

1. Lauren Rain Williams (Oaks Christian, CA - So.) - Her 22.68 on May 23 at CIF Southern Section Division Finals is All-Conditions US #5 all-time. LRW is undefeated in the 200m this school year and is the New Balance Nationals Indoor (NBNI) 200m Champion from this past winter. Before winning the national title indoors, the Californian ran the 6th fastest indoor 200m from a high school girl ever (23.39) setting the sophomore national record.

2. Candace Hill (Rockdale, GA - So.) - If there is one girl who can snap the impressive win streak of Rain Williams it is Hill. As a freshman, Hill won the NBN Outdoor 100m/200m in 11.34/23.14. She is the Georgia state record holder and wind legal US #1 in both events this season, 11.30/23.05.

3. Diamond Spaulding (St. Thomas Aquinas, FL - Sr.) - Spaulding got 2nd place behind Hill at NBN Outdoor last spring in the 200m (23.36). This year the star from the powerhouse program, St. Thomas Aquinas, ran a 23.21 to win the Florida State Championship.

4. Kiana Horton (Converse Judson, TX - Sr.) - Speaking of state champions, Horton won the 6A Texas State Champs 200m in a 23.10 (+4.1). Even though there was a huge tailwind, by the nature of her being the 6A Texas State Champ, Horton is a top contender in the 200m. She is undefeated in the event this season.

5. Zaria Francis (Rio Mesa, CA - Jr.) - The other Californian sprinting phenom is Francis. Although Rain Williams has outshined Francis this year, the junior is not afraid to “put the gloves on” and face anyone in the country. She recently ran a 23.31 (+3.4) at the same meet Rain Williams rolled to a wind aided 22.68.

6. Dasia Pressley (Pennsbury, PA - Jr.) - The Pennsylvania State Champion ran a US #7 wind legal 23.52 to prove she is one of the fast 200m runners not just in the northeast, but in the nation.

7. Krystal Sparling (St. Thomas Aquinas, FL - Sr.) - Sparling, another St. Thomas Acquinas star, ran her season’s best time (23.45) at the Florida State Meet when she fell short of her teammate and state champ Diamond Spaulding, but was able to best Symone Mason. Sparling’s life time best comes from last year’s Florida Regional meet when she ran 23.34.

8. Symone Mason (Miami Southridge, FL - So.) - The sophomore from Florida bounced back from a third place finish at her state meet to get runner-up at the Golden South Classic in a new personal record of 23.37.

9. Taylor Bennett (Klein Collins, TX - Sr.) - Her 23.46 from her Texas Regional Meet is the 6th fastest wind legal 200m this season. She is also the Texas 6A State Champ in the 100m dash.

10. Teahna Daniels (First Academy, FL - Sr.) - The 60m dash NBNI Champion is mainly a 100m runner outdoors as she has the fastest time in the nation this spring. Don’t be mistaken though, Daniels can roll in the 200m as well. At the Golden South Classic she ran the fastest prelim time of 23.56 beating out the times of Diamond Spaulding, Symone Mason, Khalifa St. Fort, and more. Coach Ricky Argro said they planned on not running Daniels in the final before the meet even began. Argro and Daniels followed through with that plan. It would be interesting to see what Daniels could do if she put all her chips into perfecting her 200m.
