MileSplit All-American Watch List: Boys 200m

Junior Michael Norman ran a wind legal 20.69 and leads the nation in the 200m dash

Boys 200m

1. Michael Norman (Vista Murrieta, CA - Jr.) - Norman has the fastest wind legal time of the year (20.69) as well as the fastest all conditions time of 20.39 (+3.4). He placed 2nd at the California CIF State Finals last year in the 200m as a sophomore. Norman will return to CIF Finals in two weekends as not just the number one seed in his state, but in the nation.

2. Ryan Clark (Banneker, GA - Sr.) - Clark is the most decorated runner on our All-American 200m list. He has great range from the 55m dash to the 400m. This past winter, Clark ran 20.85 at New Balance Nationals Indoor Champs as the third fastest 200m runner on an indoor track. Clark holds the 2nd fastest wind legal time of this outdoor season with a 20.71, right on the tail of Norman.

3. Noah Lyles (T.C. Williams, VA - Jr.) - Lyles is the only individual who defeated Clark in the 200m this past indoor season. Lyles did so when it counted most, at NBNI. Lyles' 20.83 is the second fastest 200m on an indoor track from a high schooler and it is the junior national indoor 200m record. Lyles has a personal record of 20.71 from the prelims of the World Youth Olympic Games last summer. In the finals the Virginian ran 20.80 for the gold medal. Although we haven’t seen much from Noah this spring, expect the NBNI 200m Champ to rise up at the championship season.

4. Shamon Ehiemua (Fort Bend Marshall, TX - So.) - When you are the Texas State Champion in one of the biggest divisions of the best sprinting states in the country, chances are you are one of the best sprinters in the nation. Ehiemua ran 20.89 two times this season, with his performance at the Texas UIL State Champ being wind legal and the third fastest wind legal time in the nation.

5. TJ Brock (Chaminade College Prep, CA - Jr.) - If there is anyone else in the state of California who could challenge Norman, Brock is that guy. The junior placed fourth at the CIF State Finals last year (2nd returner behind Norman) and looks stronger than ever right now coming off of a 20.78 (+2.3) on May 23 at the CIF Southern Section Division Finals.

6. Corey Dauphine (Port Arthur Memorial, TX - Sr.) - Although he did not defend his state title in the 200m this spring, Dauphine is still one of the most dangerous half lap studs in the nation. He is one of the top returners from last year as he ran a wind aided (2.8) 20.76 200m at his State Meet from a year ago. Dauphine hasn’t posted the fastest individual times this season because he has been running a ton of relays with the Port Arthur Memorial boys, most notably their US #3 all-time 1:23.84 4x200m.

7. Nick Gray (Pickerington North, OH - Sr.) - A standout sprinter from the midwest, Gray was an All-American this indoor season from his 7th place finish at NBNI. He has run a 20.90 with no wind gauge so far this season and is nearly undefeated.

8. Rai Benjamin (Mount Vernon, NY - Sr.) - His Twitter handle, @_Kingben_ reigns true, especially in the 400m and the 400m Hurdles. Despite the quarter mile and one lap hurdles being his main events, Benjamin still has some raw speed. He was third place at NBNI in the 200m behind N. Lyles and Clark and holds a season's best time this spring of 21.05.

9. Chauncey Gardner (Cocoa, FL - Jr.) - Has the 5th fastest wind legal time this outdoor season of 21.02 from his Florida Regional meet. A week and a half later he was crowned Florida State Champ. Recently, at the Golden South Classic, Devin Quinn beat Gardner in the 100m and 200m and challenges for a spot on the All-American Watchlist in the 200m.

10. Josh Eiker (Galesburg, IL - Jr.) - Along with Benjamin, Eiker has posted a season’s best time of 21.05 (tied for US #6 wind legal 200m). The junior was runner-up at the Illinois State Championships last year in the 200m and expects to reign victorious a year later as he looks to achieve his first state title this weekend.
