1/3 Weekend National Rundown

Brandee Johnson, a medalist last summer in the 200 at the World Youth Olympic Games, ran an impressive flat track 300 meter time at Prince George County's Sports & Learning Center in Landover, Maryland with a US #9 39.99 clocking as she defeated the US 500 meter leater Martha Sam (MD) in the process. 


Johnson also teammed up with her Nansemond River relay members to run a US #7 time of 1:42.18 in the 4x200 meter relay and win the event by astonishing 5 seconds! All of the relay teams ranked ahead of them nationally were run on a banked track. Along with wins in the 300 and 4x200, Johnson showcased her versatility in taking the 55 meter hurdles finals in a 8.33 clocking.

Nicie Grier Spratley of Thomas Edison (VA) set a new meet record in the high jump clearing a US #2 height of 5'8". Spratley was a Virginia 5A state champion and New Balance Nationals All-American both indoors and outdoors last year in the event. 

Outdoor nationals 100 meter champ Darryl Harraway of Dematha Catholic (MD) made his indoor season debut in easily running away with first place in the 55 meter dash with a US #8 6.46 clocking. Haraway is looking to get well into the 6.3s this winter after rolling to a 10.20 PR in the 100 last spring.

The nation's leader in the 500, Rico Gomez (Frederick Douglass MD) lowered his 300 meter PR down to 34.87 with his win on Saturday that moves him up to a US #10 ranking in the event. Meanwhile, the girls 500 winner was Bowie's Taylor Williams, who turned in a US #6 performance of 1:16.83.

After winning the Maryland 3A state indoor title in the 55 meter dash two years ago, Kiara Parker of Westlake is taking another step up to the national level this year as shown in rocketing to a new lifetime best and US #2 clocking of 7.05 in the 55 meter dash at the Southern Maryland Classic.
