Libby Davidson is the No. 2 returner to San Diego, per her sixth-place finish here last year. She is not quite in the form that saw her set the still-standing Virginia state meet course record last year (17:12), but she does look improved in every race. Davidson has the luck of racing fellow Virginian Weini Kelati, the No. 1 ranked runner in the nation, through the championship season. Weini defeated Davidson, 16:56 to 18:16, at the Virginia region championships in their first meeting this season. By Foot Locker South, that margin shrunk to 16:43 to 17:14, as Davidson took third and defeated Texas state champion Julia Heymach and Georgia state champion Lindsay Billings in the process.
