If there's a runner you can count on to take the pace out hard and make it an honest race, it's Stephanie Jenks. The senior, a Cal-Berkeley commit, is a mainstay of the national cross country scene. She qualified for her first NXN in 2011 as an eighth-grader! Jenks placed 70th that year and 41st as a freshman, but moved up to ninth at Foot Locker in her sophomore year. As a junior, she took 15th at Foot Locker and 18th at NXN. Last weekend, she was the early leader with a 5:14 opening mile and paid the price later as she dropped back to 25th overall at the finish. She's looking for redemption here... and something tells us not to count out a girl with a 16:57 5K PR.
