Millar & Pompilj: The New Saucony Flo50 Guys from New York MileSplit Staff Oct 22, 2014

The two newcomers to the latest Saucony Flo50 Boys Individual Rankings both come from New York with Bryce Millar of Fayetteville-Manlius and Marco Pompilj of Collegiate. Millar was previously ranked to start out the season, but had a redeeming race at Manhattan to get him back in the top 25 with his 12:01 runner-up finish at Manhattan. Meanwhile, Pompilj propeled himself into the national discussion after defeating New Jersey's best and previous #15 ranked Edwin Rutto with a sub 15 5K at the Brown Invite.

The Northeast has some New Kids on the Block in the Saucony Flo 50 boys individual rankings with Edwin Rutto of New Jersey and Colin Abert of Pennsylvania. Rutto, following in the footsteps of Edward Cheserek at St. Benedict's School coming by way of Kenya as well, won the Shore Coaches Invite last weekend at Holmdel with the only sub 16 in the meet. Meanwhile, 2013 Pennsylvania state runner-up Abert got a chance to roll on a much faster course at Paul Short and set the meet record with his 14:55 5K PR Run.

With Alaska state champ Allie Ostrander's 16:40 5K and Great Oak (CA) #1 runner Destiny Collins' 15:58 3 mile performances last weekend, both distance girls found themselves as among the biggest risers from their preseason rankings.
