Tuesday – May 2, 2006
Training: AM: off
PM : 31 minutes

Day mileage: AM: off
PM: 4 miles
Week Total: 13 miles, 20.5km
Where: around here somewhere
Weather: good weather!
Training details: This was technically rest day so I did a shake out run and stretching and some core strength! Aaaah, recovery week! Rest is just as important as training so I am keeping that in mind and trying not to worry about the miles and becoming a number-cruncher. I have to keep in mind that I just had 12k road race and then I have a 10k road race on Saturday again! I don't mind the rest, especially after training camp. It's important that I don't jump into too much at once and risk some sort of injury or even illness again!!!

Wednesday – May 3, 2006
Training: AM: 10x1 minute with 1' jog recovery
23 warm up, 10mins warm down

Day mileage: AM: 7 miles
Week Total: 20 miles, 31.5km

Where: Aare
Weather: warm
Training details: Started out with Asi!!! We did the 10 by 1 minutes at a pretty easy pace. We just needed to get the wheels rolling a little bit and not do too much since I race on Saturday and Astrid still needs to recover from the whole past month! From Japan to training camp and then back to school stress…Ah, the life of a student-athlete!!!

Thursday – May 4, 2006
Training: AM: 35 minutes

Day mileage: AM: 4 miles

Week Total: 24 miles, 36.5km

Training details: Another easy day to try and get these legs recovered! A 12k on the roads can really take it outta' ya!
Strive…
"The important thing is to strive towards a goal which is not immediately visible." Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
This quote is the exact thing that is hard for us distance runners to actually listen to. We want results and we want results now and don't really have much patience. We may set a goal and expect to accomplish it right away…However, we should strive and strive for a goal, which we may not even be clear until we turn the next corner! We need to take steps to get to a goal and not think we can just rush to it. Again, this is me talking to myself trying to force myself to stay patient and to always keep the big picture in mind, which is pretty much a monthly struggle! Hahaha. Talk to me in two years though… Then I can look back at my hard work and laugh at myself for my impatience…I hope!
