  • Boys Eastern States: US#1 Christian Brothers Academy (NJ) rolled to a 12:44 team average to set the course record and continue their impressive run toward the NXN finals in December.  Individually, US#25 Edward Cheserek (St. Benedict's Prep NJ) and US#12 Nick Ryan (Fayetteville-Manlius NY) opened their seasons in great style with Cheserek winning in 11:58.7 and Ryan 2nd in 12:05.7.  Both will move up the rankings significantly after this race.  
  • Girls Eastern States: Tatnall (DE) upset Fayetteville-Manlius (NY) 81 to 90 but F-M was running without Jillian Fanning.  Still, Tatnall had an impressive effort and should be a force come time for NXN.  Reagan Anderson (Tatnall DE) won the race over Kennedy Weisner (Elk County Catholic PA) with times of 14:21.2 to 14:22.9.
  • Girls Varsity A: The day belonged to Mary Cain (Bronxville NY) individually as she won with a blistering time of 14:03.9, the fastest on the day.  Bronxville won the team title over Warwick Valley 68 to 75.

 

Chile Pepper Invitational, AR

Highlights

  • US#2 Southlake Carroll (TX) looked rediculously strong and they are likely just as good as CBA if not better.  With 494 athletes in the boys Varsity race they scored a mere 19 points, sweeping the 1-4 spots and placing 6 runners in the top-10 with a 1-5 average of 15:27!  Joe Sansone led Carroll with the win in a time of 15:06.  
  • The Southlake Carroll girls were also impressive, scoring just 22 points to win the Varsity race, putting 5 runners in the top-10.  Courtney Kriegshauser led Carroll and won the individual title with a time of 17:55.1

Highlights

  • In the girls Championship race Eliza Decker (Durham Academy) blitzed the field and won with a time of 17:50.12.  Mary Grace Doggett (Cardinal Gibbons) was 2nd in 18:07.05.  Cardinal Gibbons won the team title in a close one over Green Hope 47 to 50.  
  • In the boys Championship race Patrick Sheehan (Lake Norman) won with a time of 15:56.47.  Cardinal Gibbons took down Broughton by a score of 56 to 73.  

 

Glory Days Grill Invitational, VA

Coverage

Highlights

  • US#2 Sean McGorty (Chantilly) won handily over in-state rival Thomas Madden (Skyline) 14:45 to 15:03.  Chantilly won the team race easily with 31 points and a 15:39 team average.
  • Caroline Alcorta (West Springfield) won the girls varsity race with a quick time of 17:42.  West Springfield also won the team crown.

 

Concordia Adidas Classic, OR

Highlights

  • US#3 Andrew Gardner (Mead WA) blasted a 14:45.5 winning time in the Elite 5k race, besting Travis Neuman (Summit), 15:06.6, by 21 seconds.
  • The girls Elite 5k race was a barn-burner also with Ella Donaghue (Grant) taking down the South Eugene duo of Sara Tsai and Erin Clark with times of 17:32.0, 17:32.8 and 17:35.1.  

 

Bale N Trail XC Original, FL

  • Josh Brickell (Peachtree Ridge) clocked a quick 15:11.80 to win the boys varsity race over Andres Arroyo (Colonial), timed in 15:18.75.  
  • In the girls race Allie Buchalski (Johns Creek) won with a time of 18:28.91.

 

IHSAA Region 4 Meet, IN

Highlights

  • US#3 Ashley Erba (Warsaw) torched the course at Culver to set an all-time IN best with a 5k clocking of 17:12.5.  
  • Jacob Poyner (Warsaw) won on the boys side with a clocking of 15:54.4. 

 

Kent Ottawa Championships, MI

Highlights

  • US#4 Julia Bos (Grand Rapids Christian) blasted a 17:57.1 to win by over a minute in the girls varsity race.

 

Shakopee Invitational, MN

Highlights

  • US#14 Maria Hauger (Shakopee) blasted a 13:44.1 course record and won by 1:16 earlier in the week.  Shakopee won the team title with 49 points.  

 

 

Upstate 8 Conference Meet, IL

Highlights

  • Kaylee Flanagan (Lake Park) blasted a 16:39.2 for 3 miles to win by close to a minute!
