Wow. Feeling the miles… Not just from this week of course, but
from the miles in the last couple months in general. Today was our first workout again of two. It was supposed to feel easy and it
did, but the trails were kind of stressful to run tempo pace on because it was
really "rooty" and covered with huge pine cones and pollen so we felt like wild
cats jumping all over the place to avoid twisting our ankles. Monique and I ran together and it is
nice to have a trainings partner for this type of tempo. FritzBoss came with us on his bike to
tell us where to run, so that was good company too. Astrid took the workout off today because she did steeple
drills in the morning. We are
really logging those miles!!!

In
the morning we had a middle-pace tempo run. I began running the first 15 minutes with the other girls
and then I felt that my body was still weak. I stopped the workout and decided to do only continuous runs
for the rest of the training camp.
After training camp, I will go to the doctor to get my blood checked
because I can't run anaerobic workouts.
I hope that something will be found because I want to know what is wrong
with me. In continuous runs, I
feel good. But when I do workouts,
my whole body cramps up and my arms are full of lactic acid!

Before
I could do this workout today, I had to rethink the way I thought about
it. When I first saw,
"3x600,3x500,3x400,3x300,3x200" on the training plan I feared the workout and
told everyone to have their shovels ready to scrape me off of the track when I
was done. I was dreading the
workout the whole week and even when we were warming up for it, I was scared of
it. But once I got on the line, I
told myself to just take it one run at a time and that was the way I could get
through it. I couldn't look at the
whole workout, but instead just one repeat at a time so it didn't seem so
overwhelming. The times were
pretty good for me, also taking into consideration how many miles I have on my
legs from the past couple weeks…I was pleased with the workout, but am not
satisfied…

Today
I did a continuous run while the others were working out. It isn't easy to watch others work out,
when you yourself can't workout. I
am also happy for Asi and Josi because their training is going really
well. When Josi came to
Switzerland, she taught us that you can make running a team sport, even though
it's really for individuals. In
Switzerland, team running is not so common. I think that people should come together more often like we
do in training camp. It is a lot
of fun to train with more people and it is easy to find someone to run with all
the time.
