Ethan Hooks of Parkwood ran 9:32.00 in the 3200m, moving up to #66 in NC. That's a PR, down from 9:58.51 run at ASICS Carolina Distance Carnival on Friday. Hooks also dropped his 1600m PR from 4:28.42 to 4:22.86 on Saturday with an impressive double. The junior is making massive improvements running 20 seconds faster in the 1600m and 48 seconds faster in the 3200m than he did in his sophomore season.
Emma Bloom of Mars Area ran 15.86 in the 100 Hurdles, moving up to #80 in PA. That's a PR, down from 17.34. Bloom won the event at SV-Marcie Peaco Freshman/Sophomore Invitational against 29 competitors on Saturday. Bloom had competing in the 100 Hurdles at five other meets previously this season with her best being 16.65. Bloom also set a new personal best taking 2nd in the 300m Hurdles running 49.23 down from her best of 50.80 earlier in the season.
Elijah Thorn of J.W. North High (SS) kicked off the week throwing a personal best 181-6 in the Discus, vaulting to #5 in CA. The senior ranks #3 in CA among boys in the class of 2026. The mark improves on Thorn's previous best of 150-6. Thorn won the event at Orange Vista vs JW North on Tuesday, April 14. Throne ended his junior year with a best mark of 150-4 in the Discus. Aliya Almquist of Elizabeth High School ran 12.96 (+2.0) in the 100m, moving up to #141 in CO. That's a PR, down from 13.53. The performance came at RunningLane Kansas City Relays on Friday, April 17. Almquist has competed in the 100m six times this outdoor season and has for the most part been in the high 13s. She got down to 13.53 over her junior season, but had yet to set a new personal best prior to last weekends competition in Missouri.
Braelin Cobb (Citrus HS) broke through with a 6-7.5 high jump, jumping into the top 15 at #11 in the state. Cobb is now a top-10 junior in the state. The mark improves on Cobb's previous best of 6-1.5. Cobb won the event at FHSAA 3A District 5 on Monday, April 13, defeating state #38 Wilguens Coupet (Ocala Vanguard HS) in the process. The junior now ranks #11 statewide and #8 among juniors after winning the event among 10 competitors. Cobb also set a personal record in the long jump, going 20-2.75 to improve on his previous mark of 20-2.5.
