With the in-state and national postseasons just around the corner, a handful of national powers have separated themselves from the pack and established themselves as true contenders, and they've got the stats to back it up.
Sitting atop the list of team scores up to this point of the season is one of the best programs in the country, the Jesuit Crusaders out of Portland, Oregon.
Thanks to a big performance at the Nike Hole in the Wall XC Invitational the seventh-ranked squad in the COROS MileSplit 50 Team Rankings, the Pacific Northwest power sits alone.
The next closest team on paper, unsurprisingly, is top-ranked Niwot (Colo.), who also happen to be the defending national champions.
The Cougars boast a blistering pack time of 21 seconds, making them one of the most formidable teams in the country.
Rounding out the top five is Southlake-Carroll (Texas), Lincoln (Ore.), and Keller (Texas).
