COROS MileSplit50: Niwot Boys Prove Why They're No. 1

It's good to be the king.

Returning NXN Champions Niwot came into the season with a big promise of potential. Five of their Top 7 from last years NXN winning team were back. And back they are, running very well at St. Vrain as only a taste of their potential. Rocco Culpepper still has not returned, after committing to Wake Forest this past week, but what better way to fill the top five than by adding freshman Jude Ritzenhein to the mix.

Behind them, the everlasting battle between American Fork and Herriman is playing out. Currently, they are projected at a dead heat, as they have been the past two years. American Fork gets the edge after winning their only head-to-head so far this season, but it's a race that could go either way.

Behind them, another dead heat, albeit this time from across the country. Jesuit of Louisiana has been on the radar for a few years, and are once again showing what they can do early. They dominated the Nike South Invite, running a Speed Rating performance that would have qualified them for NXN at NXR South last year. Coeur D'Alene of Idaho is right there with them. They took 8th at Woodbridge, but they ran without Wyatt Carr. Had he finished at the same Speed Rating as earlier in the Season, with no other changes, they would have won Woodbridge.

The final team on the top six is CBA Lincroft of New Jersey. They haven't opened yet (they will this weekend), but their potential is as high as ever. They're the only team that can challenge Niwot through four runners, all averaging over 184 per Speed Rating. The question is have they found a fifth man over the past 10 months? We'll find out soon enough.
