From the Bayou to the 'City that never sleeps', the nation's best high school athletes were on full display over the weekend as they took through down elite performances in their respective events. Whether they were jumping, sprinting, or running laps around the track, they were taking care of business and soaring towards the top of the national leaderboard.

The National Performer of the Week poll will close at 5 p.m. CT on Thursday, January 16, and the winner will be announced shortly after.

Take a look at five of the top-performing boys from last weekend.

This Week's Nominees:

Jayden Horton-Mims, Imhotep Institute Charter (Pa.): In his first race since winning a pair of PIAA state titles, the senior dropped the fastest time in the nation over 300m, running 33.0 for the win at the Refuel with Chocolate Milk Officials HOF Invitational. The Florida commit's PB in the event is a brisk 32.92, the No. 8 time in high school history. Though it's not a lifetime best, his 2025 debut is still faster than Olympic Champions Noah Lyles and Rai Benjamin's PBs from high school.

Jayden Thrower, Gather Time Jumpers (Texas): Picking up a win is always an achievement on its own, but soaring to the top of the National leaderboard at the same time is as good as it gets. At the LSU High School Classic, Thrower won the triple jump with a mark of 51-11.25, over two feet farther than his lifetime best he set last June. Thrower is now the Texas state record holder in the event, surpassing Mark Jackson's (Taylor HS) previous record of 51-11. Jackson's record had stood since 2010. Thrower is also now the eighth-best triple jumper in U.S. prep history.

Jack Ouellette, Xavier (Conn.): At the Yale Track Classic over the weekend, the senior notched his fourth PB of the indoor season, this time making history in the 3000m. Ouellette clocked 8:28.33 to move atop the national leaderboard, making him the fastest in the nation so far. The senior led two other boys under 8:30 at the Coxe Cage, and moved up to No. 8 on Connecticut's all-time lists. Ouellette has flexed his range on several occasions this winter, running 2:29.98 for 1k and 4:23.34 for the mile.

Kyler Brown Oklahoma Cheetahs Track Club (Okla.): The newly-minted Oklahoma state record holder in the 60m had himself a day at the Prentice Gudgen Invitational at Pittsburg State University, winning both rounds, stopping the clock at 6.69 in the final. Brown's performance makes him just the 50th high schooler to ever break 6.70, and puts him at No. 2 in the United States this season. The state champion is already off to a hot start and we aren't even two weeks into the new year.

Aiden Bryant, Midlakes (N.Y.): The New York-based junior has had himself an incredibly busy indoor schedule, already competing in five different events at six meets over the last five weeks. So far, Bryant has set PBs in the long jump, high jump, 300m, and 55m, but most recently shattered his previous best in the long jump, soaring to the top of the national leaderboard. Bryant soared to a 24-10.75 mark at the Jack Reed Showcase in Rochester, N.Y., which makes him the fourth-best long jumper in state history, and one of 29 high school boys to ever jump 24-10 or farther indoors.
