Almost exactly five years ago today, a three-way battle between Homewood's (AL) Will Stone, Harrison's Sully Shelton (GA) and Myles Collins of Archer (GA) went down in the 1,600m at the Last Chance Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama.

Early on, it was the young sophomore Shelton who took the pace out hot and made the race. Stone eventually separated and sat alone in second.

However, with 400m to go, Stone and Collins had made up some ground and were even with Shelton, followed by Stone making a move into the lead.

As the bell rang, both Shelton and Collins were right on Stone's heels, but the senior had just enough to hold off the pair, crossing in 4:19.24.

Shelton and Collins would go on to finish in 4:19.40 and 4:20.38, respectively.
