Lousiana State University will add one of the nation's top hurdlers onto its roster starting in the fall of 2024.

Scotlandville's (LA) Makeriah Harris signed her National Letter Of Intent on Friday in front of her family and friends to be a Tiger.

After she tied for the second-fastest time in the nation in 100mH with a 13.18, she landed at No. 7 on the MileSplit's Class of 2024 rankings.

Throughout her high school career, she was a nine-time LHSAA state champion. She accumulated five indoor and four outdoor titles in the hurdles and 400m.

Texas Relays is a meet where Harris made history. She set new Lousiana overall state records of 13.18 in the 100mH this spring and 40.76 in the 300mH in 2022 to rewrite the record books.

She also holds personal bests of 23.76 in the 200m and 55.35 in the 400m.

During the indoor season, she's No. 6 all-time in state history in the 400m with a 56.31 and is the second-best performer in the 60mH with an 8.37. Her hurdle performance puts her just off Alia Armstrong's 8.32 from 2019 for the overall state record.

It's evident that Harris has dominated her home state, but you can count on her to be a competitor against national competition. Over the last two seasons, Harris finished as an All-American in the 100mH at New Balance Nationals Outdoor. After finishing fourth in 2022, Harris finished fifth against a loaded field with a 13.65 in the short hurdles.

Harris is a veteran when it comes to competing at the AAU Junior Olympics Games. Since 2017, the Baton Rouge standout earned six titles.
