The fastest time in Pennsylvania history. The second-fastest on Virginia soil ever. The 16th-best performance in the high school record books.

Drew Griffith had himself a day at the MileStat Invitational.

The Butler (PA) senior unleashed a ridiculous time of 14:21.00 for 5,000 meters on Saturday to claim the elite boys race at Pole Green Park, coming up just two-tenths of a second short of tying Drew Hunter's all-time soil record of 14:20.80 from 2015.

Griffith won by a full 22 seconds, which is saying something because runner-up Berkley Nance ran 14:43 and Calvert Hall's Cameron Davis was third in 15:00.

But Griffith did do another thing, too.

The Notre Dame commit passed Archbishop Wood graduate Gary Martin ('22) with the fastest-time by any boys athlete in Pennsylvania history, moving past the current Virginia athlete's top time of 14:24.16 from 2021 at the Garmin RunningLane XC Championships.

To top it off?

Griffith's performance lands him squarely in the top 20 all-time for high school boys. His performance was the 16th-best effort across the sport.
