Six years ago, before the primetime championship race was moved to under the lights on Friday night, the Wingfoot XC Classic was held on Saturday morning in Cartersville at Sam Smith Park.
One of the best races in the meet's history came in 2017.
That year, Trinity Dublin Christian's Jacob McLeod and Milton's Sam Bowers went blow-for-blow in the final stages.
The race was decided with an epic sprint-off that saw McLeod score a course record in 14:50.22
Bowers followed just three-hundredths of a second later with the second-best time in meet history.
In fact, these two runners are the only ones in history to go below the 15-minute threshold. Last year's race featuring Joe Sapone and Maxwell Hardin was the second-fastest race in history.
