Last year, the Great Oak High School boys ranked 29th in national averages for 5K and were third in California with an average time of 15:35 for the season.
The girls ranked 18th in the state with an average time of 18:55.
This preseason, the Great Oak boys kicked off their season with a win at the Cool Breeze Invitational with a 15:29 average in the 3-mile, Westin Brown leading the way.
With a strong lineup of Gabriel Rodriguez and Jeffrey Keeney and more, the Wolfpack are laying down a solid foundation for the campaign ahead.
As for the girls, Devlyn Torza looks to be a promising team leader; she placed 25th at the Cool Breeze Invitational, running 72 seconds faster than her best last year.
This Workout Wednesday is a throwback to 2017, peeking into the varsity cross country team's work ethic and determination for the season ahead.
