Teams from Florida, Oklahoma, Idaho, Indiana, Utah and Texas currently comprise the top 10 5K averages in the country right now.
Belen Jesuit, which won its sixth straight FHSAA Class 3A title last year and qualified for Nike Cross Nationals for the second time in its history, currently leads the country with the fastest 5K average at 15:32.97. The Wolverines also opened up the year at No. 6 on the MileSplit50 national rankings.
But you might be surprised at the team slotted into the No. 2 position.
That honor currently belongs to Deer Creek High School out of Edmond, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma program has been very good statewide over the last several years, but national prominence has eluded the team.
Could that change in 2023? The Antlers are off to a roaring start.
