Just a week after breaking the 15-minute barrier for the first time in his career, the FW Diamond Hill-Jarvis star Angel Sanchez stayed patient early and waited for his moment to break the race open at the Marcus Coach T Invitational.

Sanchez would go on to go sub-15 for two consecutive races, clocking 14:58.9 after sitting behind the leaders through the first mile and winning the Marcus Coach T Invite.

His win at North Lakes Park was the first of five-straight for the junior, including the UIL 4A state title. Last year, Sanchez also qualified for his first-ever national meet, finishing fourth at the Champs South Regional.

This year, Sanchez is back and looking to defend his 2022 victory, but will have to hold off what's looking to be a strong and deep field.

This year's edition of the Marcus Coach T Invitational is slated for this Sat., Sep. 2, with the first race's gun going off at 6:45 a.m. in anticipation of this weekend's heat.
