Records Fall At Ohio Division 1 & 2/3 Indoor Championships

Setting new meet records seemed to be on the agenda for many athletes as they took to the SPIRE Institute for the OATCCC D1 and D2/3 State Championships.

12-plus new all-time indoor state meet bests went down on Saturday en route to Ohio state title wins, including over eight records on the track and four in field events.

No record-setting performance was more impressive than that of Juliette Laracuente-Huebner, who set three D2/3 records in the girls high jump (5-8.25), long jump (20-3.5) and triple jump (41-8.75), not to mention a personal record-setting 8.56 effort in the 60mH to end the day with four individual wins.

Those performances even earned Mars. Highland a D2/3 girls team title with Laracuente-Huebner as their lone state competitor.

On the track, United's Kaleb Nastari put on a show as he ran his way to a D2/3 800m state championship in the first indoor competition season of his four-year career. Nastari took the lead from the gun and never let up en route to a 1:50.80 effort, which gave him not only a PR and a meet record, but also a US No. 4 event ranking.

Other notable boys performers include Hilliard Davidson's Connor Ackley, who ran a D1 all-time best 4:07.51 for a 1,600m title and surpassed the previous meet record by just a hundredth of a second. Ackley would later double back and win the 3,200m in 9:04.00.

On the girls side, Gah. Lincoln's Camden Bentley also cemented her name in the Ohio record books with an 8.44 performance in the 60mH prelims for the best time in D1 meet history. She would later take home the individual title in 8.46 in the finals.
