Conde De Frankenberg Looks For First State Title Since 2020

Cedar Park junior Isabel Conde De Frankenberg may very well be the top girls talents in Texas.

But on Friday, she'll be looking to add her first 5A cross country state title to her name since she won as a freshman back in 2020.

The Cedar Park star won the 5A girls title in her first year of high school competition in 2020 in 17:10.65, but took third as a sophomore last year with a time of 17:26.30. 2022, however, could be the year Conde De Frankenberg gets back on the top of the podium as she enters the meet as the individual favorite.

Conde De Frankeberg joins Ava Bushaw of Carroll in the 6A division as the only two girls to dip under 17 minutes for 5k in Texas so far this season, holding a best of 16:56.62 from the FEAST Patriot XC Invitational in September. Since then, she four out of five meets contested, including both her district and regional races.

Looking at the rest of the field, Georgetown's Mckenzie Bailey could likely be the top challenger with a season best of 17:17.38 that put her second to Conde De Frankenberg at the FEAST Invitational earlier in the fall.

Beyond the individual competition, Lucas Lovejoy enters the team battle as a heavy favorite with a 42-second 1-5 spread and sisters Sara and Amy Morefield leading the way with sub-17-minute 5k times.

With strong favorites in Conde De Frankenberg and Lucas Lovejoy, the 5A girls race could make for some dominant performances on Saturday morning.
