Can Anyone Chase Down The Southlake Carroll Boys?

All season long, the Southlake Carroll boys have proved dominant not just in Texas, but on the national stage.

Coming off of three-straight wins at the Chile Pepper Festival, District 4 Championships and Region 1 Championships, Carroll has all of the momentum going into the 6A boys race on Friday.

A closer look at those three team wins exhibits just how commanding Carroll has been in the latter months of the cross country season. A trip to Arkansas for the Chile Pepper Festival resulted in a win by nearly 90 points over a nationally-ranked Bentonville (AR) squad, and Carroll would go on to tally just 18 and 25 points for near-perfect scores at districts and regionals.

With a team 5k average of 15:08.10 and an elite 1-5 spread of just 18 seconds, Carroll could likely dominant the 6A team race.

Can anyone pull off an upset?

Likely underdogs include a strong Coppell squad and Austin Vandegrift, who's led by defending individual state champion Kevin Sanchez. However, Vandegrift will likely need more than a win from Sanchez to earn the team title, and a slim 1-5 spread from Coppell will be key for the group to challenge Carroll.
