These Transfers Will Make Immediate Impacts For Teams In XC

Brayden Seymour

Hagerty (FL) to Newbury Park (CA)

As if Newbury Park couldn't already get any better, the national title favorites add Seymour, a 1,600m state champion from Florida. The former Hagerty (FL) distance runner has the potential to rise among the elite talents this cross country season.

Seymour enters the 2022 season following a third-place finish at the Florida Class 4A State Cross Country Championships last fall and a new personal-best showing in the 5K of 15:32.30.

But looking at his track performances from the indoor and outdoor seasons, signs point to significant potential for him in cross country this fall. Seymour ran 8:59.72 for a big 3,200m PR at the FSU Relays during the spring and won a state title in the 1,600m behind a 4:11.76 all-time best.

Newbury Park already has an elite top three in Lex Young, Leo Young and Aaron Sahlman. Rapidly-emerging talents like Hector Martinez and Dev Doshi round out their top five.

Seymour could potentially find himself sliding into a top-five position, which would make the Panthers all the more talented.

Having someone like Seymour anywhere in the seven-man lineup makes team points that much harder to come by for competing schools.
